Soft pops of colour

We’ve been living in the age of neutrals for a long time now and with good reason. While elegant whites and creams make for a simple and classic look, post-pandemic brides and grooms are looking for something a little more… fun. Adding gentle pops of colour to your floral arrangements is a beautiful way to symbolize joy, vibrancy, and new beginnings, so don’t be afraid to sneak in a few of your favourite hues. Think roses, poppies and wildflowers.

Dried and preserved 

The rise of dried bouquets and arrangements has been showing up in interior design trends, and it just makes sense that weddings would follow. These aren’t your nan’s dusty dried florals from the 70s, and there are so many benefits to choosing a gorgeous dried arrangement over fresh. Collect them months ahead of time to avoid that last-minute rush, gift them to your bridal party or keep them in your home forever to remind you of your special day. Stunning!

Bigger isn’t better

It’s true! While it’s easy to get caught up in the craziness of wedding planning and order a beautiful bouquet you need both arms to lift… it really doesn’t need to be that way. You can absolutely make a stunning impact with a smaller bouquet, and we’ll be seeing a lot more of these heading into 2023. Think about it: they’re easier to carry and party with, they don’t hide your face in photos, and your Maid of Honour won’t need an intense gym routine to be able to hold yours during the ceremony.

Think green

Another trend that’s perfect for the budget-conscious, yet won’t look “cheap”. Adding a whole lot of greenery to your floral arrangements makes for a beautiful pop of colour (remember we like that trend) and an inexpensive way to add drama to your bouquets. Your florist will have the best recommendations on which leaves will make the best impact and achieve the look you’re after.

Throw some love 

The environmentally-conscious wedding is definitely not a new trend (but it’s a fantastic one that will only continue to grow. Thankfully we’ve moved past the rice-throwing movement that gripped the 1980s, and these days most venues have rules on what kind of confetti your guests can throw during your recessional. Biodegradable confetti is a fantastic option and looks INCREDIBLE in photos, fresh rose petals are full of romance, but dried flowers and gum leaves are maybe the most efficient option, and definitely still make an impact. You can prepare your own if you’re feeling thrifty, or purchase readymade dried flowers or gum leaves cut into hearts for a truly natural feel.

Step aside flower crowns, there’s a new girl in town. When it comes to your bridal look, it’s the little details that really elevate things, and soft braids featuring delicate florals are the perfect little detail. Whether you’ve chosen fresh or dried arrangements, tie in the theme with a touch of nature in your hair – the more soft and subtle the better!

Make it personal 

So here’s where we make our wishlist for 2023. So many brides feel that they have to do things a certain way because that’s what you do at weddings! Now there’s nothing wrong with keeping it classic, but if that’s not your vibe you can add a little personality by stepping outside the box. Bouquets featuring personal trinkets, sparkly stars or a little tulle in your favourite colour are fun ways to be a little different and are guaranteed to make for some unforgettable photos.
