Something Blue Weddings and Events is an award-winning company. We pride ourselves in our attention to the details and logistics of weddings and events of any size, religion, tradition and location in Central and Southern Ontario and the Okanagan Valley. Simona’s passion, understanding of her couples’ needs and her attention to detail are some of the things that make her stand out in the industry.

Simona Shafir


Owner and Lead Coordinator

Simona has graduated from the Business Administration program with a Marketing and Accounting Major.

Simona has over 15 years of experience in the hospitality and events industry. She has worked in all aspects of the food and beverage sector to understand these components of any event. She started her career at the Hilton Suites and moved on to work as an Event and Community Relations Coordinator for a major restaurant chain in Canada. She’s also worked with a Kosher Catering company and Event Venues. She was certified by WPIC in 2014 as a certified wedding coordinator and has been exploring her passion for wedding and event planning ever since.

Cynthia Rivera

Cynthia is a certified Project Manager (PMP) with over 8 years of event planning experience in the corporate, non-profit, and social space. She was certified by the Weddings Planners Institute of Canada in the Spring of 2019 and has been living and breathing weddings since 2017.
Cynthia strives to provide a stress-free and enjoyable experience for all her events and is ready to do all it takes to ensure that happens. In addition to her passion for love stories, Cynthia is quite passionate about rescue animals and all things food!

Vanessa Serodio

Vanessa is an early years' educator turned event planner. With many years working with children and families and planning activities and theme projects for children this is where her love of planning came to be. Vanessa took the WPIC course in 2019 and is now is a corporate planner and assisting with weddings on the side

Lina Vu

Lina is one of our senior coordinator assistants as she was the first to join our team. In addition to her wedding planning experience, she has also been taking floral design courses and has been bringing those skills to use when needed. She has assisted with many weddings since we have started and can foresee any issues that may arise to avoid them. In her off-time, she is a full-time Mommy to 3 beautiful children. She is so motivated and attentive – truly a great addition to our team.

2019 Annual wedding open house at the
"Estates of Sunnybrook"

Even the sub -30° weather couldn’t keep engaged couples away from this year’s Estates of Sunnybrook wedding open house. Hundreds braved the weather and were rewarded for their efforts, gaining a sneak peek preview of 2019 Instagram-worthy wedding inspiration courtesy some of the finest vendors in the city! Couples were also treated to a constant flow of mouth-watering passed canapes and delicious food stations prepared by the impeccable culinary team at the venue.
